Fear & Reactivity: Service

Is your dog’s stress causing you stress, injury, or embarrassment during walks?

Do they frequently bark or lunge at people, other dogs, or unfamiliar objects, or do they retreat in fear?

Does your dog appear overwhelmed, struggling to focus or engage during walks or outings?

We understand the challenges of handling an over-reactive dog, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. When you choose to work with us, you’ll collaborate with a skilled and credentialed Certified Dog Behavior Consultant or Certified Family Dog Mediator, both of whom specialize in reactivity, fear, and aggression.

Our goal is to foster a positive relationship through humane behavior modification methods, addressing issues like overstimulation, reactivity, fear, anxiety, and aggression. We’ll work with you to create a personalized plan tailored to both you and your dog, giving you the tools and confidence to manage and train together effectively.

With classes designed specifically for reactive dogs, you’ll have the opportunity to advance your training in a variety of group settings, helping your dog build better behaviors in a supportive environment.

We can help with:

Aggression or Reactivity Towards People Inside and Outside the Home
(lunging, growling, barking, dogs with a bite history)

Aggression or Reactivity Towards Dogs On or Off Leash
(lunging, growling, barking, dogs with a bite history)

Aggression or Reactivity When People or Dogs Walk By the House
(lunging and barking from windows, fences, balconies)

Fear of Strangers or Family Members
(including children)

Aggression or Reactivity Towards Moving Objects
(cars, bikes, skateboards, etc.)

Frustration or Overexcitement
(overstimulated by cars, bikes, skateboards, etc.)

Please note:

Separation Anxiety: We do not take on cases related to separation anxiety. For assistance, please reach out to Karly at Content Canines.

Behaviour Modification

Empower Your Training Journey:

Partner with us for positive Behaviour change

Each new client begins by booking a comprehensive 60 or 90-minute in-person consultation. During this session, your trainer will gather a full history of your dog, learn about your lifestyle and routines, and discuss safety and management strategies. Together, we’ll develop a customized training plan tailored to your needs and walk you through the necessary training exercises to get started.

Afterward, you’ll practice the newly learned skills for a couple of weeks. From there, you can either attend a basic meetup with our Tri-Cities Reactive Club or book a private follow-up session to ensure the plan is working and make any necessary adjustments.

Getting Started: What You Can Expect

When you book your consultation, we begin by assessing your dog’s daily routine and identifying any adjustments that may be needed. Then, we’ll discuss your current challenges to get a thorough understanding of the situation.

Next, we’ll set goals and safety strategies, and start developing a custom training plan tailored to your dog’s needs.

We’ll review the training plan together to make sure it’s manageable for you, demonstrate exercises where necessary, answer any questions, and go over any homework for you to begin before receiving your follow-up notes and training plan via email.

Before we finish, we’ll schedule any skill-building sessions, if not already booked.

Skill-Building Sessions

Skill-building sessions are done in-person and can take place indoors or outdoors, depending on your dog’s needs. Your first skill-building session is typically scheduled 2 weeks after your consultation, with additional sessions booked every 2-3 weeks as needed. They can be spread out as needed and depending on your budget.

These sessions are ideal for those who want hands-on help with implementing the training plan, refining specific skills, or keeping on track with consistent, pre-scheduled appointments. Joining the Tri-Cities Reactive Club is a great, budget friendly option.

Other Information

Session Expiry: Sessions must be booked within 12 months of payment or the fee will be forfeited.

Training Results & Timeline: While we strive for success, we cannot guarantee specific results. Timeframes and progress may vary depending on your dog, the environment, and your commitment.
