At Magnolia Dog Training & Behaviour, we are committed to compassionate, effective, force-free training that prioritizes your dog’s emotional well-being and your success as a team.
Below you’ll find our training philosophy followed by the full policies that apply to all services: private sessions, group classes, drop-ins (Reactive Club, Life Skills, Nosework, Parkour, etc.), Family Dog Mediation, specialized walking, events, and workshops.
Our Training Philosophy & Methods
We use a positive reinforcement-based, fear-free, non-confrontational approach. Rewards (treats, toys, praise) reinforce desired behaviours, building trust and clear communication.

We apply the ethological L.E.G.S. framework (Learning, Environment, Genetics, Socialization) to create holistic, evidence-based plans.

Prohibited Methods & Equipment
We never use or permit:
E-collars, prong collars, choke chains, vibration/tone collars, citronella devices
Spray bottles, leash jerks, verbal/physical reprimands, intimidation, or any aversive techniques
Use of prohibited tools/methods may result in immediate termination of services without refund.

General Booking & Participation Policies
By booking any service (private, group, drop-in, walking, mediation, event), you agree to these terms. Not reading them does not exempt you from them.
Registration
A complete registration/intake form must be submitted for each dog before the first session/class.
Accurate contact info and full behavioural/medical history required.
Separate forms may be needed for multiple dogs.
Payment

Full payment due at booking to secure your spot.

Unpaid bookings are not held.

Spot confirmed only upon payment receipt.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
-
48+ hours notice: eligible for one-time reschedule (at our discretion).
-
<48 hours notice: session forfeited, no refund/credit.
-
Late changes may incur a $25 fee.
-
Private sessions: max two reschedules; further changes forfeit the session.
-
Packages: subject to stated expiry; unused expired sessions forfeit unless credit issued at our discretion.
Missed / Late Arrivals

Sessions start on time.
-
15+ minutes late (in-person or virtual): session forfeited as no-show.

Text us immediately if delayed — we’ll accommodate if possible.
Health & Vaccinations
-
Dogs must be healthy, free of contagious illness/parasites, and current on core vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvovirus, etc.) as recommended by your vet.

Proof may be required for group classes/events.
-
We may refuse participation or require private alternatives if health/safety concerns exist.
Behaviour Disclosure

Full disclosure required of any known reactivity, aggression, biting history, resource guarding, escape tendencies, or management needs.

Failure to disclose may result in termination without refund.
-
In group settings, unsafe behaviour may require removal, private sessions, or muzzle use.
Session Guidelines
-
Dogs must be on secure leash/harness and under control unless otherwise agreed.
-
Bring high-value treats and any gear we may assess.
-
Follow trainer guidance; maintain a safe, respectful environment.

Handlers must be 18+ (or accompanied by guardian).
-
Guests/children: ask permission in advance; not all sessions are suitable.

Photo & Video Photos/videos may be taken for training or promotional use. Notify us in writing beforehand if you object.
Liability, Risk, & Release
Dog training, behaviour modification, walking, group classes, mediation, and related activities involve inherent risks, including:

Unpredictable dog behaviour (lunging, jumping, biting, pulling, spinning, collisions)

Injury to people, dogs, or property
-
Encounters with wildlife, other animals, terrain, vehicles, or public spaces
-
Pre-existing/genetic/orthopedic conditions that may be aggravated (even if undiagnosed at the time)
By participating, you agree:

You voluntarily assume all inherent risks.

You are fully responsible for controlling your dog and any damage/injury caused by your dog (to people, animals, or property).

You release, waive, and discharge Magnolia Dog Training & Behaviour, Bianca Brown, trainers, employees, and affiliates from all liability, claims, demands, or actions arising from participation — including ordinary negligence (except gross negligence or intentional misconduct).

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your dog’s actions or your participation.

You are financially responsible for any veterinary care your dog may need, except where directly caused by proven gross negligence or intentional harm by us.

If your dog in injured while working with us but is found to have a genetic condition related to the injury, you release, waive, and discharge Magnolia Dog Training & Behaviour, Bianca Brown, trainers, employees, and affiliates from all liability, claims, demands, or actions arising from said injury (except gross negligence or intentional misconduct).

No Guarantees Training outcomes depend on many factors (your consistency, environment, genetics, health, etc.). We make no guarantees of specific results or timelines.
Reactive & Group Class Specifics

Public spaces may involve wildlife, other dogs, people, traffic, or uneven terrain — risks are increased.

We prioritize safety but cannot eliminate all unpredictability.
-
If your dog shows unsafe behaviour, we may ask you to step out, work privately, or discontinue group participation.
Termination of Services

We may end services (with or without refund) if:

Safety risks arise

Prohibited methods/equipment are used

Behavioural risks were not disclosed
-
Payment issues occur
-
Disruptive behaviour affects the environment
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.

Agreement
By booking any service, you confirm you are 18+, legally competent, have read, understood, and agree to these full terms. You also confirm your dog is suitable for the chosen service.
